Nissan N7

2026-09-30 00:10:02

The Nissan N7 is an all-new fully electric executive sedan launched by Dongfeng Nissan in 2025, marking the debut strategic model built upon Nissan’s dedicated "Tianyan" architecture. Serving as a cornerstone in accelerating Nissan's new energy vehicle (NEV) transition in China, the N7 seamlessly blends Nissan’s global design philosophy with localised Chinese R&D, aiming to deliver an EV offering that marries supreme comfort with advanced intelligent tech, backed by joint-venture manufacturing standards.

Model Overview

The N7 is engineered as an "ultra-comfortable premium executive EV sedan" tailored specifically for mainstream Chinese families, breaking completely away from traditional Japanese ICE vehicle templates to wholeheartedly focus on intelligent features and cabin comfort.

Market tags: Executive EV sedan, Tianyan architecture, AI smart cockpit, joint-venture build quality.

Product core: The N7’s core selling points centre on "class-above comfort" and "tailored localisation". Beyond elevating Nissan’s renowned "sofa" seating into an AI-driven Zero-Pressure Cloud Carpet seat design, it integrates industry-leading hardware including the Snapdragon 8295P chipset and Momenta’s end-to-end autonomous driving solution, establishing a new intelligent tech benchmark for joint-venture brands.

Market positioning: With official indicative pricing ranging between RM119,900 and RM149,900, the N7 directly targets heavyweights like the BYD Han EV, making an aggressive push into the premium EV sedan market through generous equipment levels, a cavernous cabin, and the assurance of joint-venture manufacturing quality.

Development History

Background: Conceived as a critical pillar under Nissan’s "The Arc" medium-term business plan, the N7 was developed to overcome the lag in product iteration faced by traditional joint-venture marques amid the rapid EV transition. Design and R&D were spearheaded by local Chinese engineering teams to swiftly cater to the evolving preferences of Chinese car buyers.

Key milestones:

November 2024: Made its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show, previewing its minimalist exterior design and concept form.

April 2025: Officially launched at Auto Shanghai to overwhelming response, racking up over 10,000 bookings within its first month on sale.

2026: The model transitioned into a steady delivery and brand-building phase, while laying the groundwork for international market expansion (badged as the Primera EV in selected export markets).

Market Performance

The N7 has carved out strong market traction in China’s EV landscape, effectively filling a gap left by joint ventures in the sub-RM150,000 executive electric sedan segment.

Competitive landscape: Going toe-to-toe with fierce domestic rivals like the BYD Han and XPENG MONA M03, the N7 has won over family buyers with its generous 2,915 mm wheelbase, an impressive 83% cabin space utilisation rate, and the robust reliability of Nissan's mature supply chain.

Owner reception: Owners have widely praised its "cavernous interior space, exceptional AI seat comfort, and highly effective anti-motion sickness system". As an intelligent EV from an established joint venture, its deeply localised and intuitive software experience has particularly resonated with long-time brand loyalists.

Core Technologies

Powertrain and Range:

Architecture & Platform: Underpinned by the dedicated "Tianyan" platform, the sedan is offered in two CLTC-rated driving ranges: 510 km and 625 km.

Performance & Charging: Driven by a front-mounted electric motor delivering either 160 kW or 200 kW in an FWD configuration, ensuring smooth and linear power delivery. Equipped across the board with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, it boasts rapid DC charging capabilities, replenishing from 10% to 80% SoC in just 19 minutes.

Digital Cockpit: Powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset (Max edition), driving a high-resolution 2.5K 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display. Running on the latest Nissan OS, it delivers lightning-fast touch response and extensive app ecosystem integration on par with class leaders.

Intelligent Safety & ADAS: Fitted with a state-of-the-art "one-stage end-to-end" advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) co-developed with Momenta, enabling advanced Level 2+ capabilities such as highway Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) and urban memory navigation. Furthermore, full-domain smart anti-motion sickness technology algorithmically moderates throttle and braking behaviour to significantly improve ride comfort for rear passengers.

Future Plans

As of June 2026, Dongfeng Nissan’s strategic roadmap for the N7 focuses on:

Global Expansion: Leveraging the cutting-edge EV platform and product strengths engineered in China to supply global markets (such as the Primera EV), serving as the vanguard of Nissan’s global export strategy.

Continuous Intelligent OTA Updates: Utilising Over-the-Air (OTA) updates to continuously refine autonomous driving algorithms and infotainment user experience, ensuring the vehicle remains technologically competitive.

Expanding the Product Portfolio: Building upon the N7's commercial success to broaden the "Tianyan" EV model family, including exploring alternative body styles to establish a comprehensive pure electric product lineup.
